Name: Michael David

Title: Development Manager

How long have you been with Internetrix?
Six years

What originally brought you to the company?
The prospect of working with a start up company and being able to be a part of the machine as it grew and expanded.

What does your current role involve?
• Acting as a liaison between the development team and forward facing staff (sales and management).
• Organising the development boys as well as planning their work loads.
• Organising the further advancement of the development teams skills.
• Some development work.

How has your role evolved since your earlier days at Internetrix?
I began as the sole developer along side Geoff. Eventually as more people came on board I became more of a senior engineer, until this past year being placed in the development team management role.

What’s your most memorable or satisfying experience at Internetrix?
Becoming the leader of the development team. It is a nice way of being rewarded for focusing on my job and making it my priority. There have been many small wins along the way, learning new skills or making deadlines with very short timelines. But definitely it would be getting the recognition for working hard, as well as the opportunity for input in development’s direction. There is also something very satisfying about getting to work in a job with people you enjoy being around—and even keep in touch with when they leave. The relaxed and cohesive environment certainly makes Internetrix an enjoyable workplace.

Any major changes at Internetrix since you’ve been a member of the team?
Many, as I said. I have been here since the very early days, so I have seen it grow and expand from a single owner operator to probably the top IT firm in the Illawarra and definitely a company that will soon be nationally rated, if not already. The professionalism and skill set of the staff has and continues to increase by leaps and bounds. The quality and functionality of the product set we offer is also expanding and improving at a rapid rate.

What’s the best part of being a member of the Internetrix family?
It is a small team and the flexibility along side of the ability to grow is definitely important. With a market like Sydney so close, the lure of bigger dollars is definitely a consideration; however, I don’t believe that you would find a work environment such as the one we work in. We’re all colleagues as well as friends. With little to no friction between staff members, going to work is enjoyable and easy. We get to be a part of the company as it grows, which allows us the ability for input into its direction. This is not a luxury you would get with a larger more established company. We also get to work in a relaxed environment. There are many benefits associated with a position at Internetrix and these are just a few. As with any job it’s not perfect, and certainly not the same as being paid for playing golf all day or sailing boats, however as far as office 9-5 jobs go, you would be hard pressed to find one better than the situation I find myself in.

What are you looking forward to in the future at Internetrix?
Being a part and hopefully having input into the company as it grows and expands. Being able to put your name to initiatives that help the company become a global player would certainly provide validation and reward to the hard work that everyone in the team puts in.
